Founded by police K9 handlers Brad and Corey, Kodiak K9 only works with trainers who meet the highest standards of experience, professionalism, and care.
Kodiak K9 was named in honor of Brad’s first K9 partner, “Kodiak.” Kodiak proudly served as a Fairfax County patrol and narcotics canine for ten years before retiring to spend his golden years surrounded by his loving family. After his passing, his loyalty, courage, and companionship became the inspiration behind Kodiak K9.
At Kodiak K9, we carry Kodiak’s legacy forward—treating every dog with the same respect, care, and love he was given. Because every dog deserves to be honored as a true member of the family.

Brad has served as a K9 handler in a large metropolitan police department since 2009. He’s currently an active handler and head trainer. Brad has trained numerous K9 patrol and detection teams with multiple agencies in the DMV area.
Since starting Kodiak K9, Brad has used this experience to train dogs of all sizes and breeds. He believes in a balanced training philosophy with an emphasis on ensuring the dog enjoys the training experience. Brad achieves this using patience and positive reinforcement when practical. Brad believes in tailoring every training package to best fit the needs of the dog and its family.
Brad’s wife and kids are involved in the training. This helps to ensure each dog receives plenty of love and attention. They all believe training is most productive when the dogs feel loved, comfortable, and at ease in a home environment. Outside distractions are a big part of it as well. Brad and his family make sure that day to day training is filled with real world scenarios that the everyday dog owner faces. This includes helping each dog understand how to manage its impulses and conquer those environmental stressors! But don’t worry, training hard at Brad’s house is always rewarded with couch naps.
Corey is deeply passionate about building strong, lasting connections between dogs and their families. His journey as a dog trainer began in 2007 with a respected training company that specialized in behavior modification for family pets.

During his time with the police department, he assisted other handlers throughout the DMV area in training their police dogs. This diverse experience has sharpened Corey’s expertise in obedience, behavior modification, and specialized training techniques.
At home, dog training is a family affair. Corey’s wife and children are actively involved in the training process, creating a collaborative environment that strengthens the bond between owners and their dogs. This shared dedication not only enhances the training but ensures each dog receives the attention, care, and affection they need.
